IUI #3

So we went yesterday for our third attempt. We also had a consult with Dr. Jaffe to discuss what the steps are if it doesn't work this time. Based on a family history of Endometriosis, Ovarian Cancer, and horrible cramping during my monthly cycle, she recommends that we have a Laporoscopy. This is an out-patient procedure in which a small incision is made in my navel and a scope is inserted into my belly. Another incision is made about 4 inches below the navel to allow for the probe. She'll check around and make sure there are no issues with anything, like the ovaries, endometrium, etc... Dr. Jaffe suggests the surgery as a precautionary measure. She feels that it would be best to rule out any issues before continuing to use our specimens and/or buying more! Makes perfect sense, but quite frankly, I don't know if I'm up for surgery. I have never been admitted to a hospital for anything and the thought of surgery terrifies me. However, Casey and I are still discussing it and will make a decision before the new cycle starts.

But, we're employing the power of positive thinking - there will not be a new cycle! :)
